Turtle Cake
This was an "eggless cake recipe". Taste is great and it's a great consistency to work/carve with! Recipe was found on www.allrecipes.com.
Thomas the Train
This was plan B. Plan A was to carve Thomas out of cake...unfortunately, the cake wasn't cooperating.
iCarly
Design was not mine. A picture was given to me to replicate. Very colorful and lots of fun for a little girl birthday.
Cornucopia
Loved, loved, loved this cake. All the fruits and vegetables are made from rice crispies covered in fondant. The cornucopia is all cake.
Wrestling- 100 Wins
Airbrushing used for the maroon. Anyone who has had to color fondant knows the darker the color the harder it is to work with!
Ballerina Cake
I absolutely loved this cake. I was given a picture and asked of I could replicate the cake. It was so much fun to do and I loved how soft and pretty the ballerina came out.
1st Birthday Star Cake
My first attempt at stacking!! Making the blocks is easier said than done. A lot of cake decorating is trial and error and I am learning a lot of patience :-)
Sweet Pea-- Little Girl
This will always be a special cake for me. Not only was it one of the first with fondant and modeling but it was for my very dear cousin Fawne and her baby girl, Cambrie.
The First Cake
This is the first cake I did using fondant. To my surprise it was like playing with play doh! This was a picture of a cake in one of the cake class books.
About Me
So, a little bit about me before the cake pics. I am a wife, mother of two and work full-time. I am a biologist by trade and degree but found a love in baking and creating cakes. After my son was born, I decided to pursue a long time interest in cake decorating. I found that I not only enjoyed creating the cakes I was pretty good at it. I do these in my spare time, which any mom knows is after the kids are in bed! My husband has been a huge supporter and assistant and I love him all the more for it. Who knows maybe one day I'll be able to turn this into a "real" business :-)
